It was great to have a gathering of approximately fifty parents, representative of our diverse school community, and staff attend the Community Forum on Thursday August 28th.  Our facilitator, Debbie Peynenborg, guided the group through the school review process. Debbie outlined the four year cycle of the school’s Strategic Plan process, explaining that we are in the fourth year of the cycle – the year of review.  Throughout this year we have been reviewing and measuring achievement of  the goals and targets set in 2011, gathering feedback from our parent community, teachers and students and using this information to inform the development of our new four year strategic plan.   Debbie provided a brief summary of the achievement of our goals with the key learning areas of  literacy and numeracy meeting and /or  exceeding the high targets set.  Enhancing learning and teaching through the use of digital resources and planning Inquiry units using the e5 model also achieved targets set. Improvements were also achieved in the area of student wellbeing and engagement. Transition and pathways remained stable across the four year period.

Participants were then asked to provide feedback on the current strategic plan. What had worked well ? What could have been done better or differently?

The next part of the evening involved projecting forward to the development of our new strategic plan. Participants were asked for their ideas and suggestions in four key areas: Achievement, Engagement, Wellbeing and Productivity. The suggestions were then grouped   according to broad common themes.  A summary of these will be provided when Debbie’s report is received within the next week or so.

Thankyou to our School Councillors Tim, Chris, Ahmed, Stewart and Duncan who  assisted with the facilitation and provided feedback on the collated group responses and to all who attended and provided valuable input.
